House of Harlow 1960

Posted in Fashion, Shopping, Women by Jae on April 24, 2009

I was over at ShopBop when I spotted the photoshoot Nicole Richie did for House of Harlow 1960 (named after her daughter – so cute!!!).

IMHO, I think Nicole Richie’s one of the few people in Hollywood with good style. I mean yea, she has a stylist, but I love how she’s made that boho look her own.

I think the photoshoot is stunning to say the least, I love the jewellery and I’m hoping her clothing and and shoe line are going to embody the same feeling and style. =)

house_lb_main_1_v1_m56577569831559271Love this photo here, one word: sunkissed.

house_lb_main_5_v1_m56577569831559275Stunning. Love those bangles!!! ><

house_lb_main_3_v1_m56577569831559273 I’m dying to know, who makes the shirt (green) that she is wearing? AND I also love her resin necklace that she’s wearing in the photo. *love*

house_lb_main_4_v1_m56577569831559274WOOT. Wish my hair were like hers.

house_lb_main_2_v1_m56577569831559272Not going to like, this is the only photo I’m not feeling. Maybe it’s the makeup. or the facial expression. I really don’t know.

I love some of her more elaborate head pieces (not featured). ><

You can shop her collection at ShopBop but the selection is pretty limited right now.

Kitson, however, has a wonderful selection despite having multiple items on backorder.

What can I say, the girl’s got a hit on her hands.

Marc by Marc Jacobs Miss Marc Heritage Bracelet

Posted in Fashion, Shopping, Women by Jae on February 12, 2009

This bracelet accurately represents all the facial expressions I use during the course of one day.

Evil smile, pervert, panda eyes, thick glasses, crazy and four different expressions for dissatisfaction.

Whose your favourite Miss Marc?

P.S. I don’t know what they were thinking when they designed this, it looks like it one bracelet + 9 keychains. Even I have a limit for the flossy flossy.

…even though there is still snow on the ground in Canada.

But I was surfing on Revolve and ShopBop and had to post some of the shoes that I saw and loved. Last year we saw the emergence of the gladiator sandal and they only managed to grow on me towards the end of last season, so this summer, I’m finally going to invest in a nice pair like Candela’s studded pair:

CANDELA Jazz Studded Sandals in Navy Suede and Black Leather

This pair is more laid back and for everyday; really love the colour of the steel pair (pictured on the right) but hello! METALLIC is sooo beautiful:

Belle by Sigerson Morrison Gladiator Flat Thong Sandals in Brown and Steel

I’ve also discovered an affinity for T-strap sandals because they tend to elongate the leg and that’s always a plus for shorties like myself ^^ These are by L.A.M.B. who has some of the greatest shoes. So creative.

Left to Right: L.A.M.B. Tailynn Platform T Strap Sandal, L.A.M.B. Tab Sequin T Strap Sandal

These are more like modified T-strap gladiators and I absolutely LOVE, LOVE LOVE LOVE the BALMAIN pair by Giuseppe Zanotti. And the Pour La Victoire pair has such a soft touch with the braided leather. Side note: any brand which translates to FTW  is a winner in my books. =)

Left to Right: BALMAIN Giuseppe Zanotti for Balmain Swarovski Crystal Sandals, POUR LA VICTOIRE Pascale High Heel Huarche Sandal

These would be perfect for a summer vacation *dreamy sigh*

Left to Right: PEDRO GARCIA Silke Molded Last Gladiator Sandal, TORY BURCH Miller Thong Sandals

I love the ribbon/bandage heels , they’re so pretty. ♥____♥
This pair is by Giuseppe Zanotti.

There will never be enough black pumps. And I’ve finally found one with the perfect toe. Not too long and just enough pointy-ness.

Alec Graphic Pump

And no, I haven’t forgotten about booties. And my never-ending quest for the perfect pair. Here’s a cute grey (♥) pair:

Balmain Studded Leather Jacket

Posted in Fashion, Shopping, Women by Jae on February 7, 2009

Some of you may know of my “studded” obsession.

I like studded pretty-much-everything. Studded belts, studded shoes, studded shirts.

I also like leather, leather leggings, leather jackets, leather handcuffs bracelets.

So it shouldn’t be a surprise for me to totally drool over a studded leather jacket.

Just WOW.

Joanna’s Thought Process: WOW, I think I’m drooling… Let’s purchase this sucker and get it shipped out ASAP to the boonies Waterloo… Hmm..

Step 1: Select quantity: 1 well I want 2, like one for messing around with and one as a backup when the first one gets dirty;

Step 2: Select size: 36 34 I wonder how life would be as a size zero… I imagine it would be different;

Step 3: Add to bag….

Step 4: Checking out….

€ 3276.00

Step 5: Form of Payment?

Joanna’s Thought Process: umm.. my life? If Luisaviaroma even wants that?

Sometimes I wonder how life would be like if I had boatloads of money or just a friend that runs designer sweatshops.

WAIT, I DO. Adrian, here’s your three step process: 1. Make some phone calls and fax some pictures.. 2. Pull some strings, 3. GET ON THIS NOW!

P.S. For those wondering, €3276.00 is equal to $4,234.09 USD and also equal to $5,165.59 CAD

Yea… you would need boatloads of money JUST for this…

Here is the link for those interested in making the purchase, keep in mind that I will be tracking your IP Address and hunting you lucky souls down to steal the jacket….

Disclaimer: I do not endorse the purchasing of fake goods. Adrian does not run a sweatshop in China. =P

I love capes, I hate Rufus.

Posted in Fashion, Shopping, Women by Jae on January 15, 2009

Edit: price and clothing corrections

Okay everyone knows that you watch gossip girl the first time for the plot and the second time for the clothes.

Usually GG’s Queen B is on top in my list for both departments.

No exception tonight when Blair knocked me out with her TDF outfit as Bart’s will was being read.

I love this cape. I can’t say enough how much I love capes. This has renewed my interest in the search for a cape. A search which abruptly halted last fall when I could find my size…

When I found out who made the cape, it was one of those “AH OF course” moments. But alas, it’s also one of those brands that make me say “AH impossible.”

I tried to make a collage for the outfit, but alas I could not get photos of some of the clothes. I may try later but I hope this can suffice for now..

Shopping List (for when I hit the jackpot or something):

Burberry Trench Cape $995 @ Burberry USA

The one that Blair is actually wearing is Flavio Castellani… no wonder the Burberry one looked so different on their site. I suspect that the Flavio one is cheaper than the Burberry one as well. Great news for those interested since the Burberry one isn’t as nice and has a can-food-diet inducing price.

Fendi Gathered Puff-Sleeve Blouse $760 at eLuxury

Rag & Bone Nancy Blazer $ 495 at La Garconne

Diane von Furstenburg Adame Glitter Plaid Skirt $206.25 at Bloomingdale’s

David Donahue Bow Tie $45 at Nordstrom

Christian Louboutin Lola Patent Patent Pump w/ Metallic Heel $297.50 *ON SALE NOW*

Dior Lady Dior Cannage Bag $ 1800 at eLuxury

Hue Opaque Tights in Cobblestone $12.50 at Bloomingdale’s

Maybe it’s because GG dips into the budget for Blair that Chuck is wearing American Eagle dress shirts.

Happy Hunting!

P.S. If you saw this week’s episode: Gone with the Will you’ll know what i mean when I say that I hate Rufus.

December 2008 Picks

Posted in Fashion, Shopping, Women by Jae on December 31, 2008

Friends of me will tell you that of the current fashion houses, Gucci is not a favourite of mine. For some reason, I find their designs rather dated and at times tacky. However, the new Hysteria collection has caught my eye. Namely, this embroidered version. Graphics on bags reminds of the elusive Prada Faery bag which I still pine over in my dreams. I think I’m at extreme ends of the bag spectrum. It’s either gotta be a graphic masterpiece or something plain made from soft buttery leather. For those interested, the bag has an estimated price of $2550.00 USD.

God, I’m already starting to foam at the mouth. Gwen Stefani is probably one of the only artists with a decent line of clothing and accessories. Granted hers is pretty pricey at about $500 a pop for a clutch or a pair of shoes. I love this pair of boots, actually I like all of her shoes. It’s got a military feel to it and makes me think of what Trinity would’ve worn if the Matrix went couture. This pair is now on sale at Revolve or was it ShopBop, but alas, I HAVE NO MORE MONEY. ;___;

I love my cardigans. I can’t get enough of these; I think they’re pretty much indispensable. You can probably get these anywhere, so I really wouldn’t buy cough up an obscene amount of money for a designer cardigan unless it was cashmere. Like 100% cashmere. Since a black cashmere cardigan isn’t going to go out of style any time soon.

I’ve developed a weird fascination with shorts and tights with booties this year. I’m certain someone out there is protesting their minds out but I like this look a lot. I think it’s a refreshing take on the whole skirt with tight phase. You can probably get the shorts anywhere but I really like the ones made from tweed.

I love costume jewellery especially Chanel’s, so it’s no surprise that I chose a brooch made from pearls and encrusted with other sparkly things. This baby is made by a British brand: Butler and Wilson. It retails for $45 GBP.

But my favourite item of the bunch is the headband. I love headbands and this one is cute beyond belief. But why is it so expensive?! I guess I should be happy that it’s not charging us the same amount as Angel Lust whom styles Blair Waldorf’s headbands. Either way this one is cute and if you have money to splurge on a headband. This one is a winner. Although you should also look into the marc by Marc Jacobs red lettering headband even though it can only fit the heads of babies.

Shopping List:

Gucci Hysteria Embroidered Bag: $2550.00 USD

Warehouse Grey Scalloped Pocket Cardi: $35 GBP at Warehouse UK

L.A.M.B. Bellgrave Boots: $729 USD at Zappos

Brooch: $45 GBP at Butler & Wilson

Jennifer Ouellette Headband: $75 USD at Barneys

P.S. I’m on a roll today. It’s my fifth post. -____-

The Best of Sequined Skirts

Posted in Fashion, Shopping, Women by Jae on December 31, 2008

I think many people are afraid of wearing sequins but in my opinion it’s never too much as long as you know how to downplay the rest of your outfit. Some steps I’d follow:

  1. Never wear more than one sequined item at a time. EVER.
  2. Keep the rest of your outfit plain. I.e. A black turtleneck or a fitted long blazer with a high collar over a sequined skirt.
  3. Opt for black tights underneath. If you’re looking for some warmer tights for winter, check out the cashmere ones at your nearest Club Monaco ($32CDN).
  4. Minimize all other accessories. Maybe a satin clutch and a small pearl necklace. Nothing gaudy in this department.

Here are some of pics of my fav picks this season:

1. This season, mostly under the influence of the Miu Miu Harlequin, I’ve totally fallen for the pattern in crazy colours. Particularly in purples and pinks, hence my choice of this Lipsy skirt:

Lipsy Harlequin Sequin Mini Skirt £39.14 at

2. This Express gradient mini was featured in the November 2008 issue of InStyle Magazine and rightly so. The gradient sequins remind me of Hervé Léger’s sequined number but of course much more affordable.

Express Sequin Mini Skirt $60USD at select Express stores

3. I LOVE this skirt here. The navy blue really sparkles and is so much more interesting than black.

MJA Dixie Sequin Skirt $275USD at

MJA Dixie Sequin Skirt $275USD at

4. This one is just really graphic and stunning on its own; I have no idea how you would wear this. It’s so flashy, I’d think the rest of you would have to go naked. O__O Maybe it’s an entertainment piece.
